What is passive fire protection?
Passive fire protection keeps a fire — and the smoke it produces — contained within the area where it starts, holding back its spread long enough for people to escape and the building to be protected. Fire stopping is a core part of this: sealing the gaps and penetrations where services pass through fire-rated walls and floors, so the building’s compartmentation does its job. It’s a specialist discipline where correct products and correct installation are everything.
